Paella Pan

Choosing to buy your first or even a second or third Paella Pan can be a daunting task on its own! We understand and i will give you a few basics:

A Polished Steel Paella pan is the cheapest and most Authentic of our range and are a great place to start. They are the ones the Spanish use in Spain (however they do use the enamelled and stainless steel varieties too). Polished Steel Pans are not very none stick and as such make a great Paella Crust on the bottom of the pan. However this comes with a downside that the pans can be harder to clean than other varieties available. We would recommend you soaking the pan for a period of 1-2 hours before attempting to clean it as this will make it much easier. Also polished steel pans must be oiled after use with a thin layer of oil to prevent rusting.

Not much more expensive than polished pans, Enamelled pans are much more none stick than the polished varieties and as such can be more flexible. For instance you could fry an egg in an enamelled pan but you would struggle to do this in a polished pan. Enamelled pans are the most popular paella pan in the UK and require less maintenance. They are easier to clean, retain their black speckled look better and don't require any oiling after use. These pans can also be used in the dishwasher or oven. We also offer these in a deep version which can be used to make a much deeper paella.

Stainless steel paella pans are the most expensive type of paella pan. They come with a mirror finish and look the best. These types of paella pan require no maintenance at all, no oiling and can be cleaned easily. They can also be used in the oven or in the dishwasher unlike polished pans that would rust. These types of pans are for someone who is series about cooking and series about paella.

We offer induction paella pans in both Polished Steel and Enamelled Steel with the advantages and disadvantages of both listed above. These types of paella pan are for an induction hob or AGA. Standard Paella Pans are slightly dished in the middle meaning that all of the bottom of the pan would not touch the induction hob which would mean an uneven heat surface. Induction pans have a flat thick bottom which allows the heat to dissipate throughout the pan evenly. These pans can of course be used over gas, in the oven or over an open fire as well.

We offer a few types of tapas Paella Pan which are basically small enamelled paella pans which can be used for cooking and serving small tapas to your guests. They look impressive and are all the rage in some of the UKs top restaurants. They have the same characteristics as the standard enamelled paella pans listed above.

What size paella pan do I need?

We have a handy size guide on each products page giving you an idea of how many portions a giant paella pan will serve, however these are based on the typical Spanish-style portions and not our British 'plate full' of paella. If you cannot decide on a size and are looking to buy paella pan please call us on 0114 287 3891 and we will be able to provide you with more information of our experience with the servings that our cooking equipment can offer.
